課程概述

This class is designed for master students to explore different topics in health services research through presenting articles of their own interests and reading articles chosen by other students in the class. After this class, students should be able to critically review peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of health services research. Additionally, students are encouraged to identify an area of interest and based upon which to develop their master thesis. 

課程目標
 At the end of the course the students are expected to:
‧ Apply the principles and technique of research methodology to address issues in health care organizations and systems (MS-D) 
課程要求
 Students are required to
1. Present 2 peer-reviewed journal articles of their choice:
‧ Students will describe the background, the conceptual framework, the research design, the data collection and analysis methods (when applicable), and the implications of the present study.
‧ The presentation time should be within 12-15 minutes.
‧ The chosen article should be pre-approved by the student’s advisor (when applicable) or the course instructors and should be uploaded to NTU COOL website no later than 5pm the prior Wednesday.
‧ The presentation slides should be shared with the discussant no later than a Tuesday 5pm (one day prior to the class) each week.
2. Deliver 2 discussant presentations:
The discussant presentation time should be within 5 minutes.
3. Write a critique corresponding to one of the presented articles weekly:
Each student needs to submit at least 10 critique write-ups (10 weeks) during the semester.
4. Actively participate in class discussion.


Students will be able to apply the principles and technique of research methodology to address issues in health care organizations and systems (MS-D)
Journal article presentation
(1) Students will describe the background, the conceptual framework, the research design, the data collection and analysis methods (when applicable), and the implications of the present study.
(2) Students should be able to critically review the research methods adopted by the present study
Discussant presentation
(1) Students will discuss the strengths and weakness of the present study while serving as a discussant.
(2) Students will also provide feedback for the presenting student’s presentation style and content.
Research critique write-up
(1) Students should critically review the present study as their write-up assignment.
